Kiestwood Trail

Lots of online research about area walking trails led me at Kiestwood Trail. Again, I found another local trail I didn’t even know existed.

When looking for an address, Google maps took me to the middle of the trail. So I dropped a pin here: 3698-3600 S Franklin St, Dallas, TX 75233. We parked across the street from what I would call the head of the trail in an empty lot.

This is a wide, long trail that is spotted with power lines. We saw a family biking, and a few other families walking the trail from the neighborhood. It’s not flat, but the inclines aren’t huge, either. If a child is just learning to ride a bike, the start of the trail is probably a bit much for a beginner. More toward the middle was pretty flat.

Along this trail, you basically get to peer into people’s backyards that back up to the trail. There are lots of dogs in backyards to remind you of this. There were multiple areas of wildflower habitat, so there was plenty to look at, and we also saw a handful of butterflies.

There are also benches along the way if you get tired, which we did take advantage of a few times. Next time we can start at the other end of the trail and try to make it to where we turned around, the second Kiestwood Trail sign.

Length: 2.4 miles long (I think we did a little less than half the trail), link to the trail map
