This was one of our first walks together when this whole shelter in place started. We have been on parts of this trail before, especially when my son was younger, but we had never really “hiked” the trail.
We parked our car just east of Sylvan on Kessler Parkway and walked all the way around to where the Texas flag is painted near I-30. So we didn’t walk the entire trail, but at least the second half.
On the morning we went, it had just rained, so we spotted a handful of worms and lots of snail shells.
We had fun spying sculptures by Joe Whitney, an Oak Cliff resident. According to the North Oak Cliff Greenspace website, the installations were made in 2018. When we go back, I think I’ll turn this into a counting game and adding up the various colors of sculptures we saw along the trail. There are little fairies sprinkled throughout the trail as well, but I think those are on the other side of Sylvan.
There is one steep hill if you want to make it all the way to the “flag,” but otherwise this is a nice, easy, mostly paved path.
In doing my limited research, I read that the trail was haunted!
